FAQs
Database structure and programming
The JP│KOM issue management tool is web-based, and is installed either on an
external server or the server of the client company. The prototype was installed
on a Microsoft SQL server, while the application was programmed in Microsoft’s
ASP (Active Server Pages).
Uploading (AV) files
Files are stored on the server’s file system, and referenced in the database.
Data can also be saved in the database, as can audio and video files.
Exporting data from Excel
The ability to export Excel data does not come as standard, however, it can
easily be added if required. Data is then sent in a standard Excel file without
any special formatting.
Tracking changes in documents/entries
In general, the last change made to a database entry is documented (date, user).
A full entry log can also be added as an additional function, though this does
result in considerably greater data volumes.
Linking drop-down lists with the Outlook address
book
This is possible if the issue management tool has access to the client exchange
server. The information is then imported overnight from the client system into
the database.
Drag & drop function
A drag & drop function is also available for uploading documents, though it
should be emphasized that it can result in a higher number of errors when
assigning files to users (in contrast to Explorer, browser-based tools don’t
tend to have file lists, and documents are assigned via the issue management
tool).
Distribution of press releases/news etc.
The distribution of press releases/news stories etc. is not a standard feature
of the tool. For this purpose, we recommend the use of market-leading software
such as that produced by Convento, which can be integrated into the JP│KOM issue
management tool as required.
